Important Passport Considerations Before Starting Visa Procedures
- Make sure to renew any passports that are torn, excessively worn, detached, or lack sufficient blank pages, as such passports will not be accepted by consulates.
- As per the common decision of Schengen country consulates, passports that are more than 10 years old from their issuance date will not be processed.
- Consulates only stamp visas on the “visas” section of passports. Visas will not be placed on sections labeled “Customs and Currency Records” or “Remarks.”
- The passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the end date of the planned travel for which the visa is being applied.
Travel Insurance
Many countries, especially European Union (EU) and Schengen member states, have made Travel Health Insurance mandatory for non-EU citizens entering their borders. According to Schengen regulations, everyone planning to travel to Schengen countries must present travel health insurance covering their stay. The presented policy must include the following minimum coverage:
- Valid for all Schengen countries.
- Cover repatriation costs in case of illness.
- Have a minimum coverage amount of €30,000.
- Include emergency medical treatment and hospital stay expenses.
