Cubuklu Silos, one of the important structures of Istanbul’s industrial heritage, is located between Pasabahce and Kanlica.
The area where the silos are located was opened to industrial buildings in the late 19th century to meet the increasing energy needs of the city. Since the 1930s, it was used as a storage area by private oil companies; For this purpose, silo structures of different sizes were placed in the region in different periods.
Silos, defined as industrial storage structures around the world, have become widespread since the 19th century and have served as warehouses for different products such as food, seeds, feed, minerals and chemicals. Silos that lose their functions over time; It continues to maintain its value today as a heritage element, with its architecture reflecting the traces of its period and its testimonies integrated with the city memory.
The Cubuklu Silos, which regained their function through a restoration and transformation activity rarely seen in the world, carried out by IBB Miras in line with universal conservation principles, were brought to Istanbul in 2024.
Cubuklu Silos Library will serve 110 people at the same time with its collection of 12,500 works from fields such as literature, art and history.
Cubuklu Silos, the new star of the city with an area of 20,000 square meters, will now host Istanbulites with its multi-purpose units such as the Digital Arts Museum, Nature and Science Museum, Library, Workshop, Stage, Event Area, Restaurant, Cafe, Children and Art Center.
